Abstract
The first crystal structure of a chiral diacetone-D-glucose (DAG) sulfinate , C18H30O7S, is reported. The absolute configuration (S) of the S atom is a ssigned. Previous assignments of the stereochemistry of analogous DAG sulfi nates were only made indirectly by their transformation into known sulfoxid es via an S(N)2 process.
