Ed. Lancaster et al., Spectroscopic analysis of fire suppressants and refrigerants by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, APPL OPTICS, 38(9), 1999, pp. 1476-1480
Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy is evaluated as a means of detecting t
he fire suppressants CF,Br, C3F7H, and CF4 and the refrigerant C2F4H2. The
feasibility of employing laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy for time- and
space-resolved measurement of these agents during use, storage, and rechar
ge is discussed. Data are presented that demonstrate the conditions necessa
ry for optimal detection of these chemicals.
