Abstract
Results of the experimental and theoretical investigations of CO2 laser-eng raved cylinders are presented. The processed surfaces of test samples are e xamined by a phase-stepping laser interferometer, digital microscope, and c omputer-controlled profilometer. Fourier analysis is made on the patterns p arallel to the axis of the laser-scribed test ceramic cylinders. The proble m of the visually observed banding is discussed.
