We report on an aortic and mitral valve replacement due to heavy endocardia
l calcification in an 18 year old girl suffering from Werner's syndrome (pr
ogeria adultorum). Prominent features in this case were progressive dyspnoe
(NYHA III) in accordance with rapid deterioration of aortic as well as mit
ral valve stenosis and prolonged postoperative recovery resulting from the
difficulty of the operation and the syndrome itself.
