The GC-MS spectrum of the spent liquor resulted from Tianjin Paper Mill tre
ated with photosynthetic bacterium (PSB) has been analysed. Among the inter
esting biodegradation products identified are some amino compounds and amid
es. This may mean that amination and decarboxylation are possibly part of t
he overall biodegradation process during the photosynthetic bacterial treat
ment of the waste lignin liquor. The usual ligin organic building blocks fo
rm the major biodegradation products analysed from the spectrum. Hypothetic
al scheme for the formation of the identified amino compound is presented.
