Abstract
The kinetic of dissolution and transformation process of 2MgO . 2B(2)O(3) . MgCl2 . 14H(2)O in water at 60 degrees C was studied. The solution samples were taken at different time for chemical analysis. The solid phase at dif ferent stages was separated and identified. The experimental results show t hat 2MgO . 2B(2)O(3) . MgCl2 . 14H(2)O dissolved incongruently in water. Th e misproduct is MgO . B2O3 . 4H(2)O and Mg(OH)(2). The final inversion prod uct is pinnoite, MgO . B2O3 . 3H(2)O. The mechanism of dissolution and tran sformation was proposed and discussed. The kinetic equations of dissolution and crystallization were obtained.
