By laser ablating of anthracene-d(10) sample, various CnDm- and C-n(-) clus
ter anions were generated. The distribution suggests that the structural co
nfiguration and stability of the clusters varied with the number of deuteri
um atoms and the parity of number of carbons. With growing size of the clus
ters, their structural configuration changes from chain to monocycle, and f
urther to polycycle. The analysis of the distribution also reveals the form
ation kinetics of the clusters.
