Abstract
The XUV optical properties of dense plasmas are investigated experimentally and theoretically. We calculate the dielectric function of a dense carbon plasma including effects of higher density. These dielectric functions are then used together with transmission measurements of high-order harmonics t hrough dense foil plasmas to obtain the initial electron density and temper ature.
