Abstract
Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates continue to develop an impressive arsenal of resistance mechanisms to antimicrobial agents, including resistance to som e of the antibiotics presently recommended for the treatment of gonococcal infections. The need for antimicrobial susceptibility monitoring in gonococ cal isolates and new, effective, antigonococcal treatments has never been g reater. Curr Opin Infect Dis 12:35-40.
