This paper seeks to define the "bilan de competences" (competences report).
Its stages are indicated. Then the theoretical model of "analytical empris
e" is used to show the processes induced: taking personal information, givi
ng results in return and having an action on oneself by analysis. Three con
ditions to access to self-analysis of one's competences are reviewed : the
place of subject, the role of counsellor, and the way to conceive of method
s. Success lies in the analysis rather than in the simple self-evaluation o
f competences. The system induces not only an external observation but prod
uces a new competence : knowing how to analyse one's competences.
