Abstract
Conical shaped air dynamic bearings ( CS-ADBs) are presented as the bearing s used for spindle motors of hard disk drive. Numerical analysis was achiev ed for the bearings using Monte Carlo direct simulation ( MCDS) as the flow of air dynamic bearing could be seen to be a dilute gas flow. The change o f the pressure distribution from the rotational start to the equilibrium st ate is shown.
