Abstract
Laser-enhanced thermal oxidation of polycrystalline titanium was studied us ing mid- and near-IR cw laser radiation with power densities in the range 1 0-25 W/cm(2). It is found that laser irradiation may both enhance and reduc e the rate of oxide growth in comparison with thermal oxidation under the s ame conditions.
