Abstract
Coordinate gauge independent deformations are used as the basis of a dynami cal theory of hypersurfaces in general relativity. York's relation as deriv ed from those deformations, is taken together with the integrability condit ions of the hypersurface as primary conditions to determine Hamilton's equa tions.
