The magnetostatic interactions in CoCr thin films for perpendicular recordi
ng are studied with a method based on the measurement of the ordinary magne
tization curves. The interactions are affected by the film thickness and by
the presence of the NiFe underlayer. The results are mainly related to the
regularity of the columnar structure in CoCr, and to the consequent magnet
