Abstract
Electron scattering on the ground state of copper is considered using the c onvergent close-coupling (CCC) and coupled-channel optical (CCO) methods. I n both cases the copper atom is treated by the inert...3d(10) core model, w ith only the elastic...3d(10)4s S-2 and...3d(10)4p P-2 channels considered. Comparison with experiment and other theories show best agreement of the e xperimental data with the CCC calculations, though some discrepancies are e vident. We speculate on the source of the remaining discrepancies.
