Abstract
BACKGROUND: Complete hydatidiform molar pregnancy with a coexistent live fe tus is a rare clinical entity with poor fetal survival anti an uncertain ma ternal risk. CASE: A twin gestation consisting of a complete molar pregnancy as one twin and a normal second "twin" was identified in the second trimester. The pat ient teas managed expectantly until 28 weeks' gestation, at which time evid ence of metastatic trophoblastic disease was identified. She delivered a he althy infant by cesarean section and received postoperative single-agent ch emotherapy. She was disease free six months after treatment. CONCLUSION: Patients with documented complete molar pregnancies and coexist ent live fetuses present several complex clinical issues. Though successful in some instances, expectant management.
