Abstract
A multicentre randomized clinical trial of prenatal home care of pregnant w omen was carried but in Hungary. Pregnant women registered contraction acti vity of the uterus daily using a portable contraction monitor. The data wer e transmitted directly to the physician's PC for analysis. Of 748 women who entered the study, only 263 fulfilled all the requirements of randomizatio n, monitoring and treatment. The preterm birth rate in the study group was half that of the control group. Telemedical prenatal monitoring improves pe rinatal results by providing more intensive and better observation of pregn ant women.
