Abstract
The structure of triticusterol isolated from the germ oil of wheat (Triticu
m aestivum L.; Gramineae) was established to be 4 alpha-methyl-5 alpha,14 b
eta-ergosta-8,24(24(1))-dien-3 beta-ol on the basis of spectroscopic data.
This is the first example of a naturally occurring compound with a 14 beta(
H)-steroid skeleton.
