Nanophased amorphous iron particles were coated by various carboxylic acids
and their physical properties (differential scanning calorimetry, thermogr
avimetric analysis, temperature-programmed desorption, Fourier transform in
frared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and magnetism) were
measured. The various properties were measured as a function of the alkyl c
hain length. The desorption pattern at 400 degrees C revealed a keto deriva
tive.
