Diseases of the bile ducts. Part 1: Sonographic anatomy, examination technique, bile duct tumors

The following article reviews the current status of sonography of the bile ducts including sonographic anatomy and examination techniques. In the seco nd chapter, tumors of the bile ducts are discussed with an emphasis placed on central bile duct carcinoma. After a review of recent studies, indicatio ns, technical aspects and the place of sonography in diagnosing various bil e duct diseases are presented. Starting with the sonomorphologic changes, d iagnostic lists to narrow down the differential diagnosis conclude the arti cle.
