This paper shows that on the basis of the temperature dependence of the pri
ncipal static permittivities of nematics epsilon(parallel to)(T) and epsilo
n(perpendicular to)(T), using the Maier-Meier equations, the following quan
tities can be obtained: (i) the angle between the dipole moment vector and
the long axis of the mesogenic molecules, (ii) the square of the apparent m
olecular dipole moment mu(app)(2)(T) and (iii) the nematic order parameter
S(T).
