Abstract
The Visibility of the ferroelectric anomaly in differential thermal analysi s of PbTiO3 glass was investigated, together with the effect of BaO content in the glass composition on the shift of the Curie temperature. The glass composition was 30PbO-30TiO(2)-(40 - x)B2O3 - xBaO (mol%, x = 0-20 mol%). G lass samples were prepared by casting the melt in a preheated brass mould u sing the conventional cooling technique. The appearance of the ferroelectri c anomaly in DTA largely depends on the crystal size and the glass phases s urrounding discrete PbTiO3 crystals. The added Ba ions substitute Pb ions i n the PbTiO3 crystals and resulted in the decrease of the Curie temperature and lattice parameters. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved .
