Titaea formosa anam. sp. nov., a hyphomycete isolated from an apothecium of
Dasyscyphus fuscenses is described and illustrated. The species is charact
erized by hyaline, complex, somewhat bird-like, bilaterally symmetrical con
idia consisting of one clavate basal cell, two lageniform upper lateral ele
ments and three globose cells, one apical and two sublateral hanging from t
he lageniform branches, being the apical cell larger than the two sublatera
l ones. Notes on closely similar species are given, and a dichotomous key t
o the seven known species of the genus is provided.
