Abstract
The inconspicuous sporodochia of Hyphopolynema juncatile sp. nov. develop o n senescent standing leaves of Juncus roemerianus in salt marshes on the co ast of North Carolina. The new species occurs between the lower and upper p arts of the leaves and is considered to be a facultative marine fungus. It is compared with the other four species of Hyphopolynema.
