Abstract
Gene targeting in embryonic stem cells is commonly used for gene inact ivation and the generation of mouse mutants. The combined use of metho ds for site-specific and homologous DNA recombination expands the pote ntial of gene targeting in embryonic stem cells considerably and offer s the opportunity of conditional gene targeting in mice.
