Measurements of nonlinear optical coefficients of frequency doubling proces
ses can be done by using the Maker fringe technique. For relative measureme
nts this technique offers high accuracy and reliability. To assure an accur
acy of a few percent, effects of multiple reflections and Fabry-Perot inter
ferences have to be taken into account. We derive an analytical formula for
correcting these effects, because both effects strongly interact with each
other. In our formula the effective Fabry-Perot terms can be weighted. The
results are compared to measured data. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All
