Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) mixtures containing poly(o-toluidine), poly(
m-toluidine) and poly(2-amino pyridine) have been prepared. The rheometric
characteristics of the compounded rubber and the physico-mechanical propert
ies of the vulcanizates were determined. The effects of the prepared polyme
rs on the ageing characteristics of corresponding vulcanizates were evaluat
ed. The efficiency of the polymers was correlated with their chemical struc
ture. It was found that the synthesized compounds show good antioxidant beh
avior compared with the conventional agent (P beta N) industrially used, an
d the efficiency of such compounds depends on their chemical structure. (C)
