Abstract
30 volunteers were studied during bending tests : 16 healthy and 14 with id iopathic scoliosis. Geometry of computerized 3-D reconstruction in standing and lateral bending positions, compared to numerical simulation of the per sonalized FEM (Finite Element Model, including thorax and spine), showed co herence of the model to predicate the behavior of one healthy spine. The po or agreement for scoliotic spines highlighted the necessity of personalized mechanical characteristics to be introduced in the model. This study shows , for three given patient, effects of mechanical alteration of soft tissues in order to render the specific behavior of scoliotic spine.
