Abstract
We report a study of the ion-atom reaction H-3(+) + N using a selected ion flow tube (SIFT) operating at room temperature. The product chann el is NH2+ + H and the rate coefficient is k = (4.5 +/- 1.8) X 10(-10) cm(3) s(-1). This reaction is relevant to the synthesis of ammonia in interstellar clouds.
