The authors report a new case of egg-bird syndrome, unusual because of its
association with bird fancier's lung type of extrinsic allergic alveolitis.
The association of these two forms of hypersensitivity is exceptional. It
is characterized by polymorphic clinical features and appears to be related
to an unusual mechanism of sensitization due to intense and double airborn
e exposure to avian allergens and egg proteins. This case report emphasizes
the possible coexistence of several mechanisms of hypersensitivity in pati
ents with egg-bird syndrome.
