Abstract
The isotopic exchange between 1-iodo-4-nitrobenzene and sodium iodide label led;with I-131 induced by UV-radiation, has been investigated in ethanol as solvent. The kinetic measurements have been made at different concentratio ns of the exchange partners. The rate law was obtained and verified over a wide concentration range. This rate law is not in agreement with a simple n ucleophilic mechanism and indicates an intricate mechanism involving the ex citation of the molecules of the exchange partners.
