alpha-Benzylation of (+)- and (-)-N-phenylacetyl imidazolidinones with 2-O- methoxymethylbenzyl bromides, followed by reductive removal of the chiral a uxiliary and cyclization, afforded oxygenated isoflavans in excellent enant iomeric excess and yield.
