Theoretical calculations are correlated with the acoustic parachute measure
ments for the Mill Race surface chemical explosion. It is shown that the Re
ed impulse, modified in the rarefaction phase of the wave, presents the mos
t appropriate initial signature. Empirical and theoretical expressions are
obtained for the calculation of the initial parameters, signature, and prop
agation characteristics of an acoustic impulse; the results of these calcul
ations agree well with the experimental data.
