At. Sayers et Mg. Law, BOUNDARY-LAYER GROWTH ON A FLAT CIRCULAR PLATE, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 62(2-3), 1996, pp. 163-173
A growth of the two-dimensional boundary layer over a smooth, horizont
al, circular flat plate placed in a free stream with zero pressure gra
dient along the surface is described and quantified in the range 6.7 x
10(4) < Re-d < 3.3 x 10(5). The boundary layer thickness, velocity pr
ofile and transition region at varying transverse distances from the p
late centre line are determined. It is shown that the growth of the la
minar and turbulent boundary layers closely resembles that for flow ov
er a flat plate with a straight leading edge, but the transitional Rey
nolds number is lower than for the straight edged flat plate and it de
creases as the distance from the plate centre line increases.
