Abstract
Calcium antagonist pretreatment and intracoronary high doses of nitrat es (9 mg of isosorbide dinitrate) do not counteract coronary vasoconst riction occurring after rotational atherectomy. In 30 patients undergo ing Rotablator atherectomy, intracoronary injection of the alpha(1)-sy mpathetic blocker urapidil abolished or prevented significant vasocons triction occurring 15 minutes after the procedure despite repeated inj ections of nitrates.
