Abstract
Mathematical modelling is a suitable morphological descriptor which allows a rigorous quantification of the outline of ostracodes. Its application to the morphometric analysis of Hemicytherinae reveals its interest in (1) the characterization of the contour (2) the quantification of morphological si milarities and differences between taxa and their interpretation in evoluti onary terms.
