Abstract
The compatibility of in-line optical regeneration with dispersion-managed w avelength division multiplexed soliton transmission is demonstrated, throug h the use of a new 'black-box' regenerator scheme. The possibility of achie ving 4 x 40Gbit/s transmission over 15Mm, compared to 2Mm without regenerat ion, is demonstrated numerically.
