V. Tschuschke, Empirical studies regarding behavioural and analytical group therapy treatments - a literature review, GRUPPENPSYC, 35(1), 1999, pp. 1-16
On the basis of an extensive group therapy literature review covering more
than 8800 publications across 25 years, empirical studies regarding behavio
ral and analytical group therapeutic treatments were included. The review a
imed at a detailed analysis of clinical and methodological aspects of the s
tudies found. Results show that empirical research in group therapy is stil
l lacking compared to empirical research in individual therapy and the amou
nt of published theoretical and clinical issues as well. Behavioral group t
herapy studies focus nearly exclusively on outcome and analytical group the
rapy studies clearly on process issues, thus demonstrating their blindness
for those aspects the other concept is dealing with.
