Abstract
Community structure of benthic microalgae in the Cochin backwater from 10 s elected stations were studied with special reference to indices of diversit y (H'), richness (R1), Hill's diversity number (N1) and evenness index (E2) . The correlation studies showed that the hydrographic parameters had signi ficant influence on the distribution and composition of benthic microalgae in the backwaters.
