Abstract
The laboratory mills and pre-treatments for dehulling of chickpea genotypes were compared. The satake laboratory mill followed by ACT mill was found s uitable for this purpose. The ICARDA mill not only produced high percentage s of brokens and powder fraction but also produced less reliable results on dhal yield of chickpea genotypes. Pre-treatment employing soaking of seeds in sodium bicarbonate or sodium chloride solution significantly improved t he yield of dehulled product, dhal The genotype and pre-treatment were foun d to exert a great influence on the dehulling characteristics of chickpea.
