Abstract
This paper discusses the conditions for obtaining interference patterns in interferometers with a diffraction-formed comparison wavefront and indicate s their main differences from ordinary interferometers. It shows results ob tained by numerically modelling the interference patterns for several types of aberrations, along with photographs obtained by studying microscope obj ectives.
