Abstract
This paper discusses a method for determining the microstructural character istics of a medium-the concentration of particles and their distribution fu nction over size-by measuring the multiple radiation scattering at the boun daries of a flat sample. The method is based on a rigorous solution of the inverse problem of radiation-transport theory and the inverse scattering pr oblem for polydisperse spherical particles. The effectiveness of the method in reconstructing the microstructural characteristics of a medium under co nditions of multiple scattering is demonstrated on specific examples.
