Abstract
We report the fabrication of a high-concentration Er-doped phosphate-niobat e glass. The glass composition has been optimized for doping with erbium an d for ion-exchange processing. Formation and modelling of planar ion-exchan ged waveguides with sliver and potassium dopants are also presented to conf irm that this glass is a prospective candidate for active integrated optics .
