Tris(trifluoromethyl)bismuth reacts with fluoride ions and intermediately g enerated trifluoromethyl anions to form the first representatives of hither to unknown fluoroalkyl-bismuthates: tris(trifluoromethyl)fluoro- and tetrak is(trifluoromethyl)-bismuthates.
