The aim of this survey is to show that Raman spectroscopy is a powerful tec
hnique to study structural phase transitions: After describing the experime
ntal methods used and their recent improvements, some experimental data wil
l be reviewed and set out as examples: displacive and order-disorder phase
transitions in different oxides, especially perovskite compounds, observati
on of phase transitions at high temperatures or/and high pressures, glassy
and melting transitions.
