General regularities in zonal-landscape distribution of Calliptamus abbrevi
atus and its range are described for the first time. The species is the onl
y eastern Palaearctic representative of the genus. C. abbreviatus prefers s
emideserts and dry steppe as C, italicus. However, its colonies are highly
localizes all over the range, including areas and landscapes with optimal c
onditions. Distinct ecological and geographical differences of this species
from its related forms are revealed.
