The present paper describes the synthesis, characterization and catalytic a
ctivity of a titanium silicalite (TS-2) prepared by a method based on the f
ormation of peroxytitanates. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffra
ction (XRD), FT-IR, UV-Vis, SEM and catalytic measurements for n-hexane oxy
functionalization.
The influence of the synthesis procedure, the crystallization temperature a
nd the SiO2/TiO2 molar ratio on the physicochemical properties of the produ
cts are discussed. The maximum incorporation of titanium observed was about
a Ti/(Si+Ti) ratio of 0.04. TiO2 was not formed as can be seen by DR-UV-Vi
s spectroscopy. An increase in the crystallization temperature above 461 K
leads to the formation of MFI phase as impurity. Furthermore the effect of
the synthesis temperature on the crystallization curves and the kinetic par
ameters was also investigated. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re
