Growth hormone in the treatment of growth failure in children with chronicrenal insufficiency. A critical appraisal.

Growth failure remains a major complication of chronic renal insufficiency in children, which greatly affects their quality of life. Based upon the da ta published in the literature it appears that growth hormone therapy impro ves growth in these children, with little secondary effects. However, some uncertainties persist concerning the safety and efficacy of this therapy, s o that careful evaluations must continue. (C) 1998 Elsevier, Paris.
