Abstract
The effects of prostaglandin E-2 (PGE(2)) on the contractile activity of th yroidectomized and thyroxine-treated albino rats were studied in vitro. Thy roidectomy totally inhibited the contractile response of the vas deferens t o PGE,. Thyroxine treatment, on the other hand, significantly (P < .001) po tentiated the response of vasa deferentia to PGE(2), when compared to contr ols. It is suggested that thyroid hormones play a role in the contractile r esponse of the vas deferens to PGE(2).
