We present a modification of a nosebleed catheter or nasal/nasopharyng
eal tamponade in case of bleeding from the posterior nasal cavity. A p
iece of foam rubber from a ''moist nose'' is cut to size and drawn ove
r the famponade. The advantage of the method is that it protects the s
ides of the patient's nose against pressure ulcers and prevents the ta
mponade from sliding into the naso/oropharynx. Treatment would be mean
ingfully complemented by continuous intravenous sedation of the patien
t by combining a peripheral with a central analgesic.
